Why we love our 1% for the Planet membership

Every Earth Month we have a renewed sense of commitment for our mission to reduce single-use packaging. We also confirm that our goals continue to align with our actions. This all became easier for us in 2015 when we made our giving more concrete and transparent by becoming a member of 1% for the Planet and pledging to donate 1% of our annual sales to non-profits that benefit the environment. Started in 2002, 1% for the Planet is a unique partnership of brands committed to protecting the planet and non-profits who work hard to achieve the same goal. Why you should consider becoming a member of 1% for the Planet:

1. Our planet needs our support now more than ever

Convenience has come at a great cost as our throwaway lifestyle pollutes our wild spaces and wildlife at an alarming rate. According to a report by the World Wildlife Fund, if we continue generating waste at the current rate, by 2030 the amount of plastic pollution on the planet will double, with oceans the most visibly affected. We believe that targeted giving can have a huge impact on the health of our environment.

2. Non-profits that support our planet need the funds to continue their work

Through our 1% for the Planet membership, we give directly to approved non-profits of our choice including 5 Gyres, Plastic Pollution Coalition, PLAN, Rethink Disposable and Turning Green. Direct giving helps put funds in the hands of our favorite organizations quickly and efficiently, helping to fuel the future growth of the global movement to protect our planet.
